Bobcat Pride From: Superintendent Greg Wright
Welcome back BOBCATS,

We are looking forward to another great year at HISD! We will continue our theme "Celebrate What’s Right With Hallsville ISD" for the 2009-10 school year.

We are proud to announce that we have four "Exemplary" campuses in our District this year! This is the most "Exemplary" campuses in any school district in East Texas and Region VII! Receiving "Exemplary Ratings" from the Texas Education Agency are Hallsville Elementary, Intermediate, Middle School, and the Junior High.

In a District 13-4A TAKS Comparison for the 2008-2009 school year, we are proud to announce in grades 3-11, Hallsville was ranked #1. The schools that represent District 13-4A are Pine Tree, Longview, Marshall, Texas High, Mt Pleasant, Sulphur Springs, and Hallsville. We are officially the TAKS District Champions for the fourth consecutive year!

In a comparison of each individual grade level that administers TAKS tests, we are proud to announce that Hallsvil schools ranked #1 (District Champions) in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. This is a testimony of the excellence of HISD students, staff, parents, and school board members. "Teamwork Makes The Dream Work".

We are also proud to announce that our Hallsville FFA Program was recognized as "State Champions" in 2009! The FFA Program won First Place in Texas at the FFA National Chapter Awards Program.

I hope you enjoyed our first edition of our Bond Construction Update. It is important that we keep open communication for all Bond Construction Projects. We are off to a great start at East Elementary with construction well underway and this project came under budget by $219,000 dollars. We will receive bids for North Elementary on August 25, 2009 and the High School November 19, 2009. We anticipate both projects to come under budget like East Elementary. Total costs for all three projects with alternate bidding is now 96.2 million dollars. Please visit our Bond Web-site anytime at http://www.hisdbond.info or if you have personal questions call Gary Lovelace (Director of Facility Planning) at 903 668-5990, Ext. 5762. These are exciting times for our students and would not be possible without the tremendous support from our community for Hallsville ISD.

Below is the Projected Construction Schedule for the High School and the two Elementary Campuses:

Campus Start Construction School Opening
East Elementary March 2009 August 2011
North Elementary October 2009 August 2011
High School November 2009 August 2012
