Board of Trustees

Texas law grants the Board of Trustees the power to govern and oversee the management of the district’s schools. The board is the policy-making body within the district and has overall responsibility for curriculum, school taxes, annual budget, employment of the Superintendent and other professional staff, facilities, and expansions. The board has complete and final control over school matters within limits established by law and State Board of Education rules.

The Board of Trustees is elected by the citizens of the district to represent the community’s commitment to a strong educational program for the district’s children. Trustees are elected each year and serve three-year terms. Trustees serve without compensation, must be registered voters, and must reside in the district.

2010-2011 Registration Process Starting the 2010-2011 school year, All families will be required to show a proof of residency at registration every year, even if you have already done so in the past. From each campus your child attended in the 2009-2010 school year, you received a "Proof of Residence" form -- one form per child in your family. If you did not receive this form, it may be downloaded here. You must have a proof of residence in order to register. On registration day, bring these completed forms with you along with ONE of the following: 2009 Harrison County Tax Statement Current Lease Current Purchase Agreement or Contract At the first campus you go to register, the first station will be the proof of residency station. You will give the Proof of Residence form for the child at that campus, along with one of the proof of residency documents listed above, to the campus staff member at the station. The staff person will check your proof of residence document. When your residency is verified, the staff person will make a copy of the proof of residency document and stamp all of your children’s Proof of Residence forms.
