I have a very simple classroom rule - RESPECT the LEARNING and SAFETY of OTHERS, ALWAYS!
Students enrolled in BIM II will obtain and submit assignments using the Google Classroom App and the GMetrix/LearnKey website. Google Classroom can be accessed on any computer world-wide when logging into Google Chrome using the HISD student login. GMetrix/LearnKey lessons can be accessed only on the classroom computers.
Each day students will begin class by logging into their assigned computer workstation and then logging into Google Mail and Google Classroom. Information for each day's class lessons and assignments will be available on the Classroom Stream screen.
Students will then begin the assigned typing warm-up. We currently use the Edutyping website to facilitate our typing warm-up.
Once the time for warm-ups has ended, students will follow teacher instructions in a variety of lesson formats. Students may follow step-by-step teacher instruction, complete online lesson tutorials or work independently to practice previous lesson materials.
Students may not have their phones or other electronic devices during the class period (a hanging pocket is provided at the class entry for students to place their phones and other electronic devices -smart watches, bluetooth headphones, etc - until the end of class).
Students are expected to be actively engaged in the lesson content and to request assistance if lesson content becomes difficult to understand.
Students are expected to behave in such a way that they follow the classroom rule. Actions which disrupt learning or are harmful or unsafe will not be tolerated.
Students are expected to use the HISD Skyward app to access their academic information (grades, endorsement plans, schedules, etc..), and use this access to manage their academic progress throughout the year.
At the end of the year, students should be able to use programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Google Apps (Docs, Slides, Sheets) to create documents for a variety of personal, academic and future business purposes. Students in BIM II are expected to show mastery of these skills by obtaining the Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and the Expert certification in Word and Excel.
