If stuffed animals could talk, I suppose mine would tell you that I've always been a teacher. However, it was the summer of my fourteenth year that I professed to my father, "I am going to be a teacher. It's what I'm called to do!" Oh, what a journey it has been!
My teaching journey began in the fall of 1994 when I took my first teaching position as a first grade teacher. I'm in awe when I think of the places teaching has taken me. In addition to first grade, I've taught Kindergarten, Reading Recovery, ESL, and English II. Additionally, I taught remediated writing as an adjunct for TSTC prior to accepting a position as a 7th grade ELA teacher at Hallsville in the spring of 2012. The past five years, I've served as a 7th and 8th grade ELA teacher, and I love it! Not only a profession, I have been priviledged to serve as a teacher on seven educational mission teams in South Korea and Peru.
My greatest calling has to be my family! My husband Gregg is a pastor as well as the Director of Bridge of Compassion . He and I have been married since 1999, and we are blessed with three children. My son, Avery Cole, is a Junior at HHS and a member of the Roarin' Bobcat Band. Lexie, my 8th grader, is also in band and Flag at HJH, and she serves on yearbook staff. Her love is snapping photographs! My youngest, Abbie (Abrielle) joins us in 6th grade at HJH this year!(Morning drop-off just became my friend!) Abbie is our aspiring artist! She will also start in beginner band this year! I am thankful for my little family!
This year, I expect great things from your child! My hope is that, along with growing as a reader and writer, your child will be inspired to make his/her world a better place!
