Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Melissa Torrence

I am excited to be joining Hallsville Junior High as an assistant principal! My family and I moved to Hallsville two years ago from Garland ISD and I have served as an assistant principal at the Intermediate campus for the last two years.

My educational career began at Stephen F. Austin State University where I taught Biomechanics and Analysis of Movement labs. I quickly realized that I enjoyed seeing individuals grow and learn. I accepted my first K-12 job at Center High School as a Biology and IPC teacher. My experiences in education range from small 1A districts to districts with 58,000 students, rural east Texas to the DFW metroplex, and fourth through twelfth grades. I have served as a high school science teacher, UIL coordinator, instructional technology coach, middle school assistant principal, and intermediate assistant principal.

My husband, Dr. Jim Torrence, and I live in Hallsville with our two sons Carter and Dalton. We love watching our boys receive an excellent education, competitively swim, ride their bikes, and dig holes in the backyard.

I  hope that my energy and excitement for education are an asset to the Junior High campus! I love building relationships with the people I serve so reach out to me via email:
