I am so glad you stopped by! My name is Amanda Kernan and I am starting my 10th year teaching here at Hallsville High School. I currently teach English 3, English 4 and EOC Enrichment classes. I am certified in Secondary English as well as ESL. I speak English and intermediate-advanced level Spanish. 

A little bit about me: I am a wife and mother to two young children. My husband, Brian, and I met in college. We have two kids, Lillian and James, who attend school here in Hallsville, as well as 3 furbabies. I am a Hallsville transplant, but have lived in the East Texas area all my life. My faith and my family are my highest priorities. 

I am very active in my church and volunteer with Kidz Life on Sundays and Wednesdays. For fun, I like to paint, craft, read, and play board games with friends. 

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe said these words which sum up my approach to teaching: "Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being." I like for my classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable to share ideas and learn. My students often describe me as caring, patient, and a little nerdy. I love using technology and music in the classroom to create a more student-centered environment.
