University Interscholastic League (UIL) COVID-19 Risk Mitigation Guidelines

To our Entire Bobcat Family,

On behalf of the athletic staff and every student-athlete at HISD, I would like to thank each of you for your support of Hallsville Bobcats.  I cannot express to you how important it is for our student-athletes to feel your support and presence at our sporting events. Your attendance brings energy, joy, and life to our teams. Your continued support and understanding will be very important as we navigate these next couple of months.

The University Interscholastic League (UIL) released updated COVID-19 risk mitigation guidelines that took effect August 1, 2020.  In the guidance from UIL, we may allow spectators to attend games, contests or events with a 50% capacity limitation, provided that the appropriate spacing is maintained according to protocol and rules set forth by the UIL and Texas Education Agency (TEA).

It is important for our Bobcat Family to adhere to these guidelines set forth by the UIL.  The UIL has informed schools that do not follow their guidelines can be subject to sanctions, including suspension of contests or discontinuation of public access to games. Let’s commit to these guidelines so our kids will have their opportunity to compete and display their hard work.

Guidelines to follow are as follows:

  • Practice social distancing
  • Everyone must wear a mask over the age of 10 entering, exiting, or moving around the stadium
  • Masks are mandatory to purchase concession stand goods
  • Do not sit on rows marked with tape or roped off
  • No Spectators on the game field or court following competition
  • All fans are expected to self-screen and stay home if they have symptoms or have been exposed

We will begin selling Varsity football tickets Monday September, 21st. Varsity football is the only sport that requires us to presale tickets. Everyone in attendance will need a ticket for admittance.

Parents of participants will have an opportunity to purchase tickets through their team or group sponsors Monday and Tuesday of game week in sections F & G. General Public will have to purchase tickets through the athletic office on their scheduled days.  Season ticket holders in Section D will buy tickets each Monday.  Reserved seat holders in section C & E will purchase their tickets on Tuesday.  General Admission tickets will go on sale Wednesday and Thursday.

Thank you for your continued support of Hallsville Athletics.  We hope to have a day real soon that we can lift these restrictions, but in the meantime, show up at 50% but bring energy at 100%.

Sincerely,

Cody Farrell

Athletic Director
