Hallsville HS Wins 17th Straight UIL District Title
Hallsville High School's UIL Academic teams scored a massive victory at the District 10 UIL meet on March 27-29, with the Bobcats securing an astounding 17th straight Sweeptstakes title in academic competition.
Hallsville finished with five first-place teams and two second-place teams in the event, with the Literary Criticism team earning wild card recognition. The Bobcats accounted for nine individual district championships as well. Hallsville's Brennen Ashley posted a perfect score of 350 on the Calculator Applications test.
Hallsville posted a total of 503 points in the competition, nearly double that of second place, which was at 281 points.
"Neither myself nor any of my coach buddies has ever seen a 350 scored on a UIL Calculator test," said Hallsville UIL Academic Coordinator Mike Clay.
Qualifiers will now move on to Regional competition on April 25-26.
