SHARMECA T. HARRIS
STUDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR
DAEP ADMINISTRATOR
DISTRICT TRUANCY OFFICER
Email: sharris@hisd.comIt is my distinct pleasure to join Hallsville ISD as the Student Services Coordinator, where I serve as the administrator for the HISD Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) and District Truancy Officer. My husband, Bruce, is the new Hallsville Ladycats Head Basketball Coach, and we have one amazing son, Graysen. We are all excited to be Hallsville Bobcats and look forward to an amazing year serving the district and being a part of this community.
Throughout my educational journey and career, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience and served in many capacities. Currently, I am a doctoral candidate at Arkansas State University in pursuance of my Doctorate of Education. I obtained my Master of Education in Educational Leadership and my Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication from the University of Texas at Tyler. I obtained my Associate of Science degree from Northeast Texas Community College. I have served districts in the capacities of high school English teacher, high school counselor, primary school counselor, high school assistant principal, and district special programs and testing coordinator. It has always been my educational goal to not only serve and support students and teachers, but also to encourage and empower students and teachers to offer the best version of themselves to one another.
As DAEP administrator, it is important to me for the students placed in our program to be supported in their academics as well as be provided with opportunities and support to grow socially and emotionally. We are fortunate to have teachers and support staff serving this program who are passionate about seeing every student experience academic success and provide a positive and encouraging learning environment. I am here to support our teachers and staff in their efforts and ensure all of our students continue their academic pursuits and leave our program empowered to make better decisions.
As the district truancy officer, it is my goal to support the district in promoting and sustaining regular attendance for all students. Additionally, I offer my support to parents in understanding the importance of school attendance and the effects non-attendance can have on their child's education. Providing students with a quality education begins with regular attendance every day for every student. This can be achieved through a collaborative partnership between the district and parents working together to ensure students attend school each and every day.
I am looking forward to a positive and productive school year! Please know that I am available and welcome any questions, concerns, suggestions, or celebrations that you may have or would like to share. I can be reached via phone call, email, or feel free to schedule a conference. I am here to serve Hallsville ISD and the Hallsville community!
