Pursuing Excellence In Education

Distinguished Alumni

Distinguished Alumni

The Distinguished Alumni program at Hallsville Independent School District (HISD) celebrates graduates of Hallsville High School who have gone on to achieve significant success in their fields and remain connected to the Bobcat family. The program is sponsored by the Hallsville ISD Education Foundation and recognizes alumni whose achievements demonstrate the spirit of the district.

What The Recognition Means

Being named a Distinguished Alumnus or Alumna signifies:

  • A foundation in the Hallsville community and schooling experience that helped launch future success.
  • Excellence in professional accomplishments, service, leadership or innovation.
  • Ongoing connection to Hallsville ISD — offering inspiration, mentorship, or engagement with current Bobcats.
  • Embodying the “Bobcat spirit” of pride, character, achievement and community.

Selection & Celebration

Each year, the Education Foundation, in coordination with the district, selects several alumni to honor at the homecoming football game. The most recent honorees in 2025 are:

  • Karen Keasler Adams (Class of 1966)
  • Cheryl Darden Bell (Class of 1985)
  • Shane Sherwood (Class of 1986)
  • Amy Whittle (Class of 1994)
  • John Westbrook (Class of 1997)
  • Roddrick Muckelroy (Class of 2005)

The day includes a luncheon, classroom visits and recognition halftime at the football game — offering current students an opportunity to meet and learn from the honorees.
