Bobcat Proud: West Elementary's Domonic Poindexter Named to 2026 National Math Stars Cohort
Hallsville ISD is celebrating an outstanding academic achievement by Hallsville West Elementary student Domonic Poindexter, who has been selected as a member of the 2026 National Math Stars cohort.
National Math Stars is a 10-year, fully funded academic initiative designed to identify and support exceptionally talented young mathematicians. Domonic was one of only 618 students from across the United States selected for the 2026 cohort from a pool of approximately 9,000 applicants.
Domonic earned his place in the program based on his academic excellence, passion for mathematics, and recommendations from school leaders.
As a National Math Star, Domonic will receive a long-term package of academic support valued at more than $100,000, all provided at no cost to his family. The program includes weekly one-on-one math mentoring, advanced mathematics learning opportunities, STEM enrichment materials and experiences, invitations to math competitions and summer camps, and continued support from third grade through high school.
Domonic was recognized for his outstanding accomplishment during Monday night’s Hallsville ISD Board of Trustees meeting, giving district leaders an opportunity to celebrate an achievement that places him among a select group of young mathematicians nationwide.
Congratulations to Domonic on this tremendous accomplishment! We look forward to watching him continue to learn, grow, and pursue his passion for mathematics in the years ahead.
We are Bobcat Proud of our National Math Star! 💜⭐🐾
