Mrs. Katie Nichols
My name is Katie Nichols, and I have the privilege of being your child’s teacher this year. I graduated from University of Texas at Tyler in 2000. I have taught elementary grades 3rd and 4th for 5 years then Head Start for 11 years. This is my 15th year to work at Hallsville ISD. While in school, my focus was on early childhood education and I am excited to be able to teach in Head Start. My husband Andy and I have one son. Peyton will soon have his 12th birthday. Peyton was born 15 weeks early and had to live in Baylor Medical Center in Dallas for the first 8 months of his life. He is doing very well now. Peyton will start the sixth grade this year. We live in Longview and attend Mobberly Baptist Church. I am looking forward with anticipation to the start of school and getting to know you and your child.
This year we will work hard and play hard to help your children achieve all that they can. Our learning environment will be one that encourages active participation on the part of each child. We will explore, observe, discover and interact with each other. We will express ourselves through art, writing, music and movement. We will acquire academic skills and facts through reading readiness, science and math. The whole child is our priority—physically, mentally, creatively, emotionally and socially.
We are going to have a wonderful time learning this year. Let me encourage you to take an active part. I value your participation in the education of your child and encourage you to be involved at school and at home.
We are looking forward to working with you and your child to make this year the best.
