Education is a team effort. Students, parents, teachers, and other staff members working together will make this a successful year!
The Hallsville ISD Student Handbook is designed to align with law, board-adopted policy, and the Student Code of Conduct, a board-adopted document intended to promote school safety and an atmosphere for learning. The Student Handbook is not meant to be a complete statement of all policies, procedures, or rules in any given circumstance.
The Student Code of Conduct, as required by chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code, provides methods and and options for managing student behavior, preventing and intervening in student discipline problems, and imposing discipline.
This Code of Conduct has been adopted by the Hallsville ISD Board of Trustees and developed with the advice of the district-level planning and decision-making committee. It provides information to parents and students regarding standards of conduct, consequences of misconduct, and procedures for administering discipline. This Code of Conduct remains in effect during summer school and at all school-related events and activities outside the school year until the board adopts an updated version for the next school year.
In case of conflicts between board policy (including the Student Code of Conduct) and any Student Handbook provision, the district will follow board policy and the Student Code of Conduct.
A hard copy of either the Student Code of Conduct or Student Handbook can be requested from Mrs. Lindsay Slaten, Director of Human Resources, at 903-668-5990 ext. 5235, or via email at lslaten@hisd.com.
