Jeff Collum, Superintendent of Schools
Jeff Collum has served as a professional educator for the past twenty years. Jeff began his career as a teacher/coach and Athletic Director in Beaumont, Texas in 1997. Throughout his career he has served in the following roles, which he feels have prepared him to serve as the superintendent today: Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, Junior High Assistant Principal, High School Principal, Director of Student Services, Executive Director of Secondary Schools and Education.
He is married to Cara Collum, his wife of thirteen years, and together they have three sons: Caleb, Elijah and Causey Collum. He loves to spend time with his wife and boys watching them play sports, enjoys the outdoors and travelling when time allows. Jeff is the son of two lifelong educators. His father, Jerry P. Collum served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal and, principal for over twenty years. His mother, Carol A. Collum (Miller) served as an early childhood educator for over forty years.
Jeff has been very fortunate in his career to be named “Administrator of the Year” twice in two different states, both Texas and Arkansas - once in Tyler ISD and once in Benton, Arkansas. He was awarded the “Safe Schools Administrator of the Year” in 2014 by the University of Arkansas’s Criminal Justice Institute for his focus on school safety and operational improvements related to School Resource Officer work.
Jeff was also awarded by the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce in 2015 the “Visionary Leadership Award” for his work in the Saline County Career and Technology Education project. He is very passionate about helping students achieve their very best in education and in life and is proud to serve as superintendent of one of the finest districts in the state of Texas.
