Meet Our Superintendent

  • John Martin

    Mr. John Martin, a 1987 graduate of Hallsville High School, was named Superintendent of Schools in Hallsville ISD in the spring of 2021. Martin began his career in education with Jacksonville ISD and went on to serve in various roles at Hillsboro ISD, Waskom ISD and Pine Tree ISD before coming back home to Hallsville ISD. He has served as a coach, assistant principal, campus principal, Chief Administrative Officer, and Assistant Superintendent for HISD before being named lone finalist for Superintendent in March 2021.

    Upon his graduation from Hallsville High School, Martin went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University, a Master of Education Degree from the University of Texas at Tyler, and his Superintendent Certification from Lamar University.

    John and his wife, Sherri, an ESL teacher at Hallsville Intermediate School, have three daughters: Bayli, Brilee, and Brinley. They also have two grandsons, Bryant and Brenham, and a granddaughter, Brooklyn.

    “I have been blessed beyond measure to have spent more than half of my career at Hallsville ISD, and I am truly a “Bobcat for life," Martin said. "It has been my honor to serve and give back to our students. I look forward to carrying on the tradition of excellence in education and I am excited about what the future holds for HISD."
