Mrs. M. Hortencia Martinez

I am currently in my 6th year, here at Hallsville JH. My HISD career started in 2017 as an ESL Aide.  In 2020, I was promoted to Assistant Principals Secretary. My duty is to handle all discipline parts assigned by my Principals. I'm stern with the students but also treat them with the respect that they deserve. Among this, I also help translate for Spanish-speaking parents. I love being in the main office and am always helping in any way that I can!

I start each day with a vivacious spirit and always on a positive note. Humor is one of my qualities. I believe it is needed to get through the day.

I've been married for 29 years to a wonderful man and my soulmate, Candido Martinez. I remind him every day how blessed he is to have me (I'm really the blessed one). We have three magnificent adult children, two girls and one boy. Bri our eldest daughter, Mikel our son and Jaira our youngest. We currently live in the Lake Cherokee area and became empty nesters in 2021. We enjoy the outdoors and are currently parents to 23 chickens and 2 goats, Steve & Mother of Steve that I highly adore!

Daily, I aspire to be an asset to the Junior High campus all while finding enjoyment in working with our students and staff.
