Welcome to 6th grade ELA! I am honored to have your child in my class this year and look forward to watching them grow as a reader. I can't wait to get to know them better, but first, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
I was born and raised right here in good ol' east Texas. I have been a part of the Hallsville school district since kindergarten and continued through my senior year- it's a little bit surreal to be teaching in the same building I went to high school in! Being the home body that I am, I decided to stay close by and go to the University of Texas at Tyler where I received my bachelor's degree in early childhood education. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher when I "grew up" , but I always thought I would want to teach at the elementary level. I started my career teaching first grade where I stayed for three years before I made the bold jump into upper elementary last year teaching 6th grade. I have always loved reading so this has been the perfect fit for me! I absolutely love teaching 6th graders and hope to instill my passion for reading into my students as well. I truly believe reading is the key to success if you allow it to be.
My husband Kasey and I have one sweet, smart little girl named Eversyn who will be two at the end of September. She definitely keeps us on our toes with her spunky personality and never ceases to amaze me with the things she is learning on a daily basis. In March of this year, God blessed us with a chunky, smiley baby boy, Easton. He has been the perfect addition to our little family!
Some of the things I enjoy doing are: reading, of course, traveling, taking pictures, and spending time with my family.
My favorites include: my church- Grace Creek, the color purple, which works out well since we are the bobcats, everything fall, COFFEE-if I have yummy creamer, and just about any candy you can think of! Because of that last item, I guess I should also say that one of my favorite, or not so favorite things to do, is work out! ;P
I guess that just about wraps it up! Again, I am looking forward to a fabulous year with your child and can't wait to see them soar through 6th grade! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if I can help in any way! :)
