Mrs. Kayla Souder

Welcome to 6th grade ELA! I am honored to have your child in my class this year and look forward to watching them grow as a reader. I can't wait to get to know them better, but first, let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I was born and raised right here in good ol' east Texas. I have been a part of the Hallsville school district since kindergarten and continued through my senior year- it's a little bit surreal to be teaching in the same building I went to high school in! Being the home body that I am, I decided to stay close by and go to the University of Texas at Tyler where I received my bachelor's degree in early childhood education. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher when I "grew up" , but I always thought I would want to teach at the elementary level. I started my career teaching first grade where I stayed for three years before I made the bold jump into upper elementary to teach 6th grade, and boy am I glad I did! I absolutely love teaching 6th graders and hope to instill my passion for reading and learning into my students as well.

My husband Kasey and I have one sweet, smart little girl named Eversyn who just turned 6. She definitely keeps us on our toes with her spunky personality and never ceases to amaze me with the things she is learning on a daily basis. We also have a 4 year old son, Easton, who is all boy,  but oh so sweet! They will both join the Bobcat family soon!

Some of the things I enjoy doing are: reading, of course, traveling, taking pictures, and spending time with my family.

I guess that just about wraps it up! Again, I am looking forward to a fabulous year with your child and can't wait to see them soar through 6th grade! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if I can help in any way! :)
